Call for the resignation of El Karoui and Radhia

Call for the resignation of Hakim El Karoui the post of President of the Institute Cultures of Islam (ICI)

Hakim El Karoui, a banker at Rothschild and President of the Institute of Islamic cultures appointed by the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe in May 2010, provided advice to the dictator Ben Ali, the days preceding his departure, when the regime violently suppressed peaceful demonstrations of the revolution Tunisia.
Mediapart in his folder called " Former pen Raffarin Ben Ali recommended to the end " dated February 8, 2011, acquired two notes penned by Hakim El Karoui and addressed to "His Excellency Ben Ali" .

The banker, founder of the very select circle of young leaders Club twenty-first century, there some advice for dealing with the crisis, while the regime is to live his last days. The first is dated January 12. The second was written on 14 in the morning, just hours before the flight of the dictator.
The Franco-Tunisian El Karoui then moved to Ben Ali "dramatically change" its government and its advisers. He proposes "gives (r) a clear and strong signal" by disavowing "those who, claiming to (sound) entourage, are causing the sense of injustice " - referring to the clan of his wife, Trabelsi, hated by the population. He also advises to " send a message of sympathy to the families of victims" and feels good to support his taking over the security discourse of the President: "Even if there is manipulation, even if terrorists infiltrated (sic) , you are the Father of Nation (emphasis added) and Father of the Nation should be with his son when they suffer. " In addition, he plays so cynical about the string religious advice to Ben Ali to lead "a prayer to the Great Mosque of Carthage, Tunisia and his son. "

Hakim El Karoui, wanted to play the prince's council supporting the dictatorial regime of Ben Ali, whose record of repression rises to 219 dead. The actions of Mr El Karoui are contrary to our vision of morality and political ethics. His actions reflect a compromise with a corrupt and violent, and betray the struggle copy of Tunisian youth. They are totally incompatible with the exercise of responsibilities in an institute which aims to facilitate the emergence of an Islam marked the values of dignity, ethics, justice and freedom.

· For all these reasons, we demand the resignation of Hakim El Karoui the post of President of the ICI, and a public apology to the people of Tunisia for its support for the regime of Ben Ali.
· We demand the Socialist mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe's appointment as President of the ICI to a person of integrity and legitimate to encourage reflection and exchange, in a spirit of modernity and openness.
